I have a Canon 60d. On playback of my photos (before downloading unto my computer) I have noticed the red triangle focus points on the picture (capture). Have never seen this before. Don't know if they will appear on my printouts, but why are they there, and how do I avoid them??

It would help to know what post processing program you are using, but either way, there is a setting to show them, usually under the View Menu, to show them or not.

I'm sure the software manual can give you more information if needed. S-

Go your 60D manual and find the chapter 'Image Playback'. Then find topic 'About AF Point Display'. It's a menu option within the camera. They will not appear when printed, and depending on the editing software, will not even be seen when the pictures are taken off the camera. During playback of images, you can press the Q button and also toggle the AF point display -- topic Quick Control During Playback in the same Image Playback chapter.

If you used flash it could be the AF assist lights that were a little to slow to turn off. If so wait a second longer before pressing the shutter. I had that happen before.

First, I'm going to assume that you are seeing little red rectangles (not triangles) on the camera's LCD screen, when playing back images in "review".

Those are just the camera showing you what AF points were used when taking the image. It's just a feature of the camera and can be turned off if you don't want to see them. They will not show up in final images when you off load the images onto your computer.

If you use Canon's own software to view the images on your computer, you can optionally see the active AF points there, too. Once again, those red rectangles won't appear in any print or other usage of the image, is just an informational feature shown in the software and can be turned off or on, as you see fit. Non-Canon softwares cannot display this information (at least, none that I know of). Only Canon's own software, as was supplied with the camera.
