This picture is outstanding. I wish you would click on "store original" when posting so I can check camera data. But I love your composition as is. David

It is a great photo and the only thing I would say is that the heron itself it a little too brown but then maybe it was the light causing the normal grey color to turn brown?

I like the colors and composition, but I'd give it more head room.

You can't change the natural lighting - you got great detail in the feathers so as I said earlier a great photo.

WEEMS,

I don't see any glaring problems with your PP work. I see where the capture in camera could have been improved. It is a lot of hard work and time consuming to alter the background in this image.

When you captured the bird it would have helped to have a CP filter attached to the lens; would allow you to adjust the reflection off the water in the background. This would have increased the contrast between the lake, the bird, and the grass in the foreground.

Michael, THANKS. I have them, but it was removed. I got in the habit of leaving them on ALL the time and decided I didn't need to do that? Lesson learned I guess. As with much wildlife, there was not time to fool around with equipment. Being around water, I should of reinstalled the CP. :)

WEEMS,

You are most welcome.

There is one thing to keep in mind when outdoors and capturing wildlife, the CP filter can be left on the lens and adjusted to have little effect, major effect, and anywhere in between.

The disadvantage to a CP filter is the light reduction at "0" filtration, but that can be compensated for with a tweak of ISO.

If someone on here told you it sucks then like most negative comments its only because they can't do it as well as you did. Nice photo by the way.

I liked the one you first posted, but after seeing the original I like the original better, the bird looks healthier to me.

Lots of opinions on PPing in general. I happen to like what you did but others will say it's a liitle too contrasty/vibrant. I would say ignore them unless they are saying I will buy it, if you tone it down.

I like the shot. It's always something with photography, there will always be someone to add to your photo. Photography is extemely subjective. Love the shot as is...............
