I would appreciate a few opinions from fellow photographers. Would be nice to hear your preference, but even nicer to know why you preferred it. Not every image looks good in Sepia, to me, very few of them do. This seems to be the exception. Please use the quick download.
Thanks in advance!

Hey Phil...well I think these things are mostly a matter of personal preference. I like this sepia treatment and have used it myself on old cars. I just did some research...I have some old family farm photos taken in 1894. They appear to very similar to your version but maybe a tad lighter with a bit of light vignette. I put a link to one below should you want to study it. Now...lots of folks also prefer B & W as opposed to Sepia. Sometimes, I do to...so I understand your dilemma. Sort of like deciding on chocolate or vanilla ice cream. I like them both equally. Nice looking old farmhouse though. Don't think I helped you much, but maybe a better expert can share some ideas with you.

Thank you my friend, first for taking the time to look and comment and for the link, very interesting. I think the sepia seems to date back, in looks anyway to the eighteen hundreds. I know the old farm house is at least 150 years old. So sepia seemed appropriate. The color, as always brings out the warmth and feel of an image, and there is the dilemma. Always good to get others opinions and thoughts.

Hi Phil. Great shots both of them. I love the sepia, for it gives it the picture an age for the house. I have a lot of older pictures of my Grandfather running his dredge. Yours is very close to them. But they do have the darkening around the corners. I don't know if this was there when shot, or if it is the age of the shots from being in storage. The color shot also tell a story of a very old house that was a home that has lasted the years with a lot of love and care.

Hey Erv, good to hear from you. I stumbled on the old house this past week, while getting some therapy on my knee. It is located on a place called "Harmony Farms". It is the original farm house and barn. I was glad to see them restoring it, and thought it made a good photo subject. This is the first week in several months that I have been able to walk around and shoot pictures. It was very enjoyable. Thanks for the good words.

I like the sepia, but if you're trying for that OLD look, you might want to darken it a tad, and add some noise, but still very nice as is!!

Not sure rlaugh if I wanted it to look old, a friend wanted to see it in sepia, and I liked it. would have loved to have had a few people in period costume sitting on the porch or standing in the yard. I think there is potential for a nice picture in the general setting. Thanks for looking in my friend.

I appreciate that, and I agree, they are treasures. It is always a joy to see someone save one of these special examples of times gone by.

You know what? Now that you mention it, it does look like something from a movie set when you walk around it. Thanks for looking and thanks for your thoughts!
