I just received the latest Micro Center advertisement. It had a Premiere Elements 12 AND a Photoshop Elements 12.

What is the difference?

Note: they have a package deal where they sell both for a bit of a discount. So, I assume they are relatively different . . . but how???

Premiere includes video editing.

No, Premiere Elements is ONLY for video editing, PS Elements only for still editing.

I bought the combined package as the special offer was virtually the same as the best price on Elements alone. However, I have never used Premiere Elements.

So, if you have no need for video editing, don't pay much more than nothing to obtain Premiere Elements.

Costco has Elements 13 on sale for $49.

It is the latest version and the one you want.

Hi.
Premier Elements is for video editing. Photoshop is for 'stills'.

Dave, he set it was available also as a package deal. The way in which he put it, I assumed it was available as an either/or deal. That is how I bought elements one time. I did not need the premiere edition so I just bought the elements portion.

What are they charging for Elements 12? It's not the current version. Elements 13 was released a few weeks ago. If you are a Costco member you can purchase it now for $49 while supplies last until 11/30/14.

I think you can also purchase from Costco.com if you are not a member. You may have to pay an extra $4 for a "temporary membership". But it is still a steal next to what Adobe and Amazon want. Haven't checked Adorama or B&H...they sometimes can match Costco.

Photoshop is for digital photo editing - premiere is that plus video editing.

That's not quite correct. Photoshop Elements 13 is for photo editing. Premiere Elements 13 is for video editing only.

I think all have reiterated the fact that Premiere is for vid editing. I don't really do video, but wanted to be able to do slide shows that I can control the length of each frame as well as put music to it and adjust pics with sound, etc. I have a Mac which means that the slideshow feature in Lightroom won't work and haven't found programs would do what I wanted with the amount of control the Premiere has. I'm still trying to learn Premiere and it is very slow for me, but I'm making progress.

That said, I purchased Lightroom, then a year or so later I purchased the Elements/Premiere Elements package.
