WOULD ANY ONE TELL ME WHICH IS THE BEST ---CANON OR NIKKON.????
JUST A BEGGINNER I LIKE TO TAKE PICS
The best is now Sony, Panasonic or FujiFilm unless you want dinosaurs with less features than the above three. Nikon and Canon have great lens but they refuse to make excellent mirrorless cameras. Canon and Nikon are being left in the dust, however the Nikon D810 is an excellent camera if you need a big great camera and a tripod.
THANK YOU . I WOULD THINK THE THREE U MENTIONED WERE LOWER GRADES. LOL GOES TO SHOW I KNOW VERY LITTLE
18 PIXELS GOOD ? WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND

Fantastic images have been taken with Canon and Nikon cameras. But a lot of images have been missed because the camera was not available when needed. Sony, Panasonic and FujiFilm are able to make smaller cameras that use smaller lenses like the Panasonic LX 100 for $900. You can carry it in your jacket pocket and take wonderful quality images.
The Sony A5000 or A6000 takes great shots too.
If you insist on Canon or Nikon, I would choose Nikon for their autofocus superiority.

It's like ford or chev. both are good, go to a store see which feels best, as far as Pixels 18 is good but it depends on how big you might want to print a picture, personally I like more pixels.

Even 12 megapixel sensors make fantastic images. And the fewer the megapixels in the sensor the more light each pixel carries. That means you could take better pictures in lowlight situations. When you pick a camera with higher megapixels such as 18, 24 or even 36 megapixels in the sensor, you can crop these pictures to get a great looking image without it losing color saturation or looking grainy. So there is a trade off when choosing number of megapixels. 18 or 24 megapixels with a good sensor is plenty of resolution.

It's so nice to have choices.
Well, to begin with, you need to research the topic, and to research with the best results, use the best - no, THE ONLY - spelling that's appropriate:
C A N O N - - - N I K O N

Both of these are great cameras. And they both will take the same shot side by side and you can't tell which one did which picture. It is the nut standing behind the camera that makes the picture!:):) Get to know the to brands by using the search at the top of the page. There are folks using every brand of camera you can think of here. And it depends on your budget a lot. The bodies of cameras come and go, but if you get good glass. It will be around forever. If you have a REAL camera store close. Go in and ask them for cameras in your budget. They will let you play with them and you can see which one feels right in your hands. And that will be the one you will be happy with!! Then you can ask about lens here for help to get the best ones you can afford.:):)

Welcome to the forum. I shoot Nikon D810. Love the resolution. You can never have too much of it.
