It took me weeks to work through the 2000 or so images captured on my Virginia trip. I didn't see a tenth of what I wanted to see, and the weather did NOT cooperate. I had lots of grey skies and light rain - even dense fog along most of the Skyline Drive. So I missed a lot there. But the battlefields are so moving they must be done contemplatively and that takes time. I've been invited back, so I can hopefully see more at another date.

Location: Behind the Camera... lol perfect.
I love the final products for their color and clarity with an obvious subject. I wonder though... are you familiar with the rule of thirds? I know rules are meant to be broken at times and not followed slave-isly, but every subject in your photos is dead on centered. Just wondering if that was your intent.
all great and the mill is wonderful!

Now just where have I seen that water wheel before ???
I like your photo. It is soft in focus which makes it very pleasant to the eye and the soul. Tack sharp photos are not always called for.

Thank you for sharing #2 is my favorite
Nice series. Which battlefield for the cannon? Looks familiar to me. (I've toured several.)
I see that Virginia is still holding it's fall colors pretty good. It's always great to travel and see historic places. Nice pictures...at least the weather wasn't a complete wash out.
Very pretty images.
I know how you felt about the emotion of visiting the battlefields. Same for me.

That's one of the battlefields around Cold Harbor. I shot so many canon. At one time before I lost my bearings I noted that all the Confederate canons are facing north. But then perhaps they're not.
Very nice I grew up in Virginia. So much history there eight presidents, the first five were from Virginia. I grew up on the Potomac river very close to Washington's birth place in Westmoreland and co.
Thank you for sharing. Johnnyboy

No. 2 is also my favorite. So happy to hear that someone came home with about 2,000 images. I am still sorting that number from a trip in Utah.
