Extension Tubes - A Cheap Way to Get into Macro

Good article about using extension tubes to do macro. I use the manual kind. One tip: if you use the manual tubes, be careful about removing them from the camera. That little silver button must be slid one direction or another to remove them. People naturally think that the button must be pushed straight in, but that will not release the tubes. Then they get out the Vice Grips, and it's downhill from there.

That is a great article, thanks for the post. I have the canon 100 mm Macro, non IS. I love the lens, but sometimes have a problem with camera shake. I think i may try the tubes and see what i get with my 18-55 IS and 70-300 IS.

I usually use mine indoors, and I play around with an off-camera flash to get the lighting right. I focus by moving the subject - or maybe the camera.
