Great photo set.

What a vicious, nasty short war causing about 2,000 casualties, with about 900 fatalist for nothing but to boost the ego of the Argentina junta.

The land abides. In a few hundred short years all obvious evidence of that war will be buried or disintegrated.

Except for the mines!

Here in San Diego we still have unexploded ordinance from WW II at what were Camp Elliott and Camp Kearny, training camps for naval aviation and the US Marine Corps and Army. The bulk of that land is now Marine Corps Air Station Miramar but some of that land is now suburbia with unexploded shells being found every few years in the canyons and wild areas. Two boys were killed there by an exploding shell in 1985. Next time we're out that way I'll take a photo of the warning signs and post it on the forum.

I'm thinking of hundreds or even thousands of years, an eye blink in the history of Earth. In the long run, everything breaks down and is recycled.

Coot, I remember the Korean war (I was born in '42). Our neighbor, a WW II fighter pilot, was called up to fly a Sabre jet, leaving his job, wife, two preschool girls and a young boy for the duration. I did research on the war in high school and after so I know that the fighting in that small area was as hot as WW II and the casualties were horrible. It's not at all "the forgotten war" to me, even though I was just a kid at the time. Our sacrifice stopped the Chinese and Russian expansion and gave them pause throughout the long cold war.

Thank you for your service back then. You have my wishes and prayers for nothing but the best for you.
