Here are a few images I came across while sweeping out the archives. I took these a few years ago. If I remember correctly, these were taken with the D90 and the wide angle shots were with the Sigma 10-20. Color balance is off and the saturation would be toned down now that I see them on my calibrated monitor. But we all learn from our mistakes. Enjoy.

Really nice shots. Gorgeous color. Did you get those colors from PP? Or was that pretty much what the camera saw?

If you read the post, I feel they are a bit oversaturated. I didn't take any time to rework the images. I did use a polarizer more back then, but find that polarizers, with limited usage, can be effective. I don't use polarizer filters much now except for water, close-up vegetation with exceptional glare from the waxy leaf cuticle, and sometimes rock and mineral textures with additional glare.

The soil and habitats depicted in the scenes do have a very red color, but they are more saturated than I would like. Most postcards and photos you get from these areas have the same thing done to them to make them more vibrant. The scenes in the late afternoon/evening don't require and additional warmth because the natural color temp of the light, combined with the soil color, is very rich.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Thanks Sarah. Have you had the time to visit any of these places in the SW yet? If you ever do, you won't be disappointed.

Thank you ebbote. Sometimes it's fun to go back a few years and relive the adventure. The problem is, there are getting to be many more of those behind me to go back to than I really want to consider.

That's a lovely perspective on Delicate Arch. Makes me want to go back and do it all over again. Where were you to get that angle?
