Deserted/Ghost Town - Rural Utah

Visited this little hiccup on an old one lane country road. It never was much of a town although it still has a few residents. They must have been looking for solitude and found it. A light rain had just passed through when we arrived and the lighting was iffy.

I think the lighting was perfect for the subject. I also love towns like this, I wish we had some that aren't 100 miles away but...

In some of your shots you can almost hear the children.

Thanks for looking jimmya. These old towns are fun to visit but most around here do require a few hours drive.

When I was in television I was a feature reporter for many years in Kansas. I had lots of fun at ghost towns... Kansas is full of them. Some folks still live in them but for the most part they gone.

In one town there had been a rich rancher many years ago and he had a town house and a ranch house... they weren't two miles apart. But, on horse back, that's a good distance from one house to the other.

It was a very interesting visit.

I would like to see this in person. Where is it located or is it a secret place?

Hey lightcatcher...no it is not a secret, it is Thompson Springs, UT which is a short ways off of I-70. If you continue on a few miles past Thompson Springs heading up Sego Canyon Rd. You will come to the Indian Petroglyphs I recently posted and a little further on is an old mining ghost town named Sego. Google them.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you for the info. Will have to work it with the planning for the Moab area early next year.
