WW1 Verdun Mortuary

The bones of the French and German soldiers killed in the defense of Verdun who were never identified. There are the bones of approx. 130,000 soldiers resting within.

Over 230,000 men died here and a further 500,000 wounded or missing in this one battle.

A further 16,142 known soldiers are buried in the cemetery outside.

You're welcome and thanks for commenting. I've been posting a World War One series each day for the past couple of weeks if you wish to look them up.(WW1-A, WW1-B, etc)

Wow. Good images. England has just spruced up its Tower of London with thousands of red ceramic roses, each representing a soldier's death in WWI. See if it's on the Goog.
