Hi Brenda, you really must stop "breaking" your images haha. I think most photographers have a complete computerized tool box on tap. I use aperture-3 for my bulk work and have a few other programs for that once in awhile thing like Noise Ninja. You know what really works well for basic work like cropping and exposure tweaking is Picasa. Its really a great program once you learn all its features, its quick to figure out, and its FREE.

I use photoshop 7. I have used it for along time.
It took me about a year and the purchase of several tutorials to really learn what I needed to know.
So my advice is pick a program, the one you have is great, then pay the price in time and effort to learn what you already have.
If you want to be proficient sticktoitivity is the most important lesson you can learn.
I have been behind a camera for more than 40 year.
I wish you the very best in your journey

There are many good help books for photoshop elements including in the ... for dummuies series of books. If you go to the adobe website they have tutorials. Also google elements tutorials you will find lots of websites. The good news is once you master elements you are at least 75% of the way there to mastering photoshop itself which is the overwhelnming choice of professional photographers.

Well - not what you asked, but.... Since you already have Photoshop I would suggest a different route, a different mindset. Yes Photoshop can seem overpowering, but keep in mind that just because you have all of the options does not mean you have to know or use all of them. For example if you start with the basic tools such as the crop tool, the levels> under the enhance on the tool bar, plus the upsharp also under the enhance you can do a lot to help your pictures. I would also suggest the clone tool is very handy. There are also options as under the "EDIT" icon to do full, quick, and guided. The point I am trying to make is start simple, have a guide book with you and expend as you feell comfortable - you are not going to blow anything up. I have added a few where I feel Elements helped the photos greatly. No I didn't say they are great, or even good. All are always free to comment.

Elements 9 seems hard at first but in about 8 hours or so you will like it and it's not that hard to do. It has many of the photoshop features and they designed it to be a bit easier to use.

I use Lightroom, but it does have a learning curve. If you are intending to become serious with photography, it is the way to go. There are books to help you learn how to use it, as well as free online tutorials.

OMG I have done this 3 times trying to let Beegal know what I have learned. Not sure why when I download 2 photos the first one disappears and then nothing sends. So I will just send the before with my message then do another with the after.
Basically, Beegal, I use Elements9 too but want you to checkout topazlabs.com for an additional plugin software. they have free webinar training on that site or youtube archived. There you will learn the products and also basics of photoshop elements layers/masks. Register and attend a webinar at end you get a 30% discount on purchase and feel of where it can take you. Good luck here is my AFTER topazed photo - kind of a HDR style in this case. Hopefully the BEFRE will go thru - It was pretty uninteresting and shot with just a point & shoot dim lighting no flash so not good.
