Hey everybody, I'm a mother of one and currently laid off from my job, so I have had some time to get back to taking photos. I'm not anything close to professional, but love taking pictures of anything and everything. I've been wanting to upgrade my camera to help me take more pictures with better quality, have a couple in mind. If anyone has any suggestions for a hobby photographer, let me know! I'm really looking at the nikon coolpix L120. My husband and I are sorta strapped for cash as I'm not currently working, so no ridiculously priced suggestions please!

That depends, what are you using now? I have a Coolpix L 110 wich is basicly the same camera except the L 120 has a higher zoom and better sensor (cmos sensor) It doesn't have manual settings but takes good pics.

Welcome to the forum. I looked at the L120 online and it seems like a good camera - My wife recently bought a Sony of similar spec to the L120, but more $. She takes great photos with it - sometimes better than what I get with my D200. (actually, embarrassingly much better sometimes:)

Welcome Jess!!!! Welcome to Hedge Hog.

Have you thought of used or refurb? Many of the members here buy only used or refurbished from KEH, they have a good warranty system and a good return system as do B&H and Adorama. Don't limit yourself to only new

Welcome aboard. Try to get a used camera that you can grow in to. With interchangable lens. Nikon or Canon both good.
