Got tagged this AM by my go-to camera sales guy knowing that I anxiously await the Canon 100-400mm lens/version 2. He passed this on:

It's still considered a rumor. Remember how long it went on about a replacement for the 7D?
But a rotating zoom over the current push pull design would be key to making this lens worthy of serious consideration.

Nope. There have been persistent rumors of higher cost than version 1 even as high as $2.3K. Only rumors though. Awaiting tech specs and pricing.

2-2.5k is what I would have guessed. Not cheap, but not ridiculous for what it is.

According to Canon Rumors, the lens will be released Nov 11th and the Price is $2199 USD.
