Welcome to Day 47 :) Today we are going to take a look at Negative Space. It is described as anything in the background that is not the focus of the photograph. So how much Negative Space is too much? How much attention do you pay to Negative Space when you crop ?
The following examples are in response to both questions.
Have you ever noticed how much negative space we actually have in photos ?
Generally we have Negative Space when there is only 1 subject ... I know I have a lot of it LOL ... let's see some of yours.
This is the same eagle picture with two different crops. The mallards were taken today at a local pond.

I love photos with a lot of 'negative space,' such as your cactus shot. Great shots; and I love all of your 'prairie dog' shots. Now that I know about 'negative space,' I realize that I take a lot of photos with negative space. So it won't be hard to find a submission. It is raining bad in GA today, so I surely won't be getting out.

Wonderful shots! The ducks are incredible! Do you remember your settings for that shot?
Will try to get out a bit later. Here is for how.

Love the texas roadhouse sign
here is one with some neg space that I think says a whole lot...
PSG57...not enough looks great to me.
Photogrl57 i am a little confused. In drawing, negative space would be the space between the slats of a chair for example. But in photography it is the background space???? Do i have that right? ... whatever is not the focus or subject.
hey peanut...psg57 is not on now....I think you have it right

Thanks..will you look at yesterday p31?
I think background can make or break a photo. It's always a treat when they come together. Here's a few I like just for that reason
Hey Folks, If you click on the download the photo will fill your screen, most of you know that but for the newbies, Thanks
fstop...what do you mean use the download? LOVE THAT WHITE BIRD/black background
Don't know whether this fits in or not, however an example here is sometimes I'll shoot with a lot of negative, with respecting THE THIRDS with the idea of PPing later if I need or want.
#1 is the ''mother shot''
#2 is cropped so as to get into The Thirds
#3 is a pano, cropped out to get width and deleting the negative
hey p...the rope is very cool...i like it.
