Diary Journal software for Apple iPad

Hello UHH Friends -

I have used an Apple iPad journal app called OnePad on a daily basis since mid-2012. Recently after "upgrades" (Apple to iOS 8.xx and corresponding changes by OnePad) the journal app became unstable and lost both past and current data. I need to replace this app ASAP and am looking for suggestions. The replacement must be compatible with the iPad, must be stable (no lost data and few crashes) and must be searchable. I would prefer the interface to be uncluttered and free form (allowing me to enter (type in), edit or change each days' entries at will. I would prefer not to hand write or use a stylus - at 68 years typing is easier and cleaner. Since this is an app I will use constantly, I am entirely willing to pay a reasonable one time fee. Your thoughts?

I like Day One. Review of the App is here - http://www.macworld.com/article/2463178/day-one-review-a-mac-app-thats-so-nice-youll-actually-maintain-your-journal.html

I'm not a heavy user but find it does what I want to achieve.

Notes, built into iOS is great for this and if you have an OS X mac will automatically sync. Searching isn't obvious but google it for full instructions. If you want to sync to a windows machine try EverNote, it's a little more complicated to sync but it will.

Hello MTBear -

Evernote is a great app. I installed it on my iPad a couple of years ago and later on my MacBook. I use it to store notes, certain images, ideas and general observations often. It doesn't - yet - function well for daily journal entries or I would use it in a heartbeat. The in-app purchase offerings they sell are pricy and sort of goofy, but easily ignored.

I use Notes to quickly record random one-liner text similar to the things I put into Evernote, but again it doesn't seem to be designed for 'calendar' daily journal/diary use.

Bill - Thanks for this suggestion. I had considered Day One before, but hadn't actually tried it. Now I have and I agree that it works very well. I opted to sync using DropBox since iCloud may be the culprit or primary accomplice to whatever was causing my data loss issues. Thanks again! /Ralph

Dropbox is a good choice. I feel as others do, that Apple has a bit more work to do before iCloud is ready for Prime time. I'm also waiting longer to upgrade to Yosemite / IOS 8. Have upgraded yet? If so, I'm curious how it's working for you?

Bill - iOS 8.xx has been a cruel joke so far. An unstable mish-mash of new "features". Hoping it will get back on track.
