This barn in my neighborhood has been sitting on these stone pilings since the day it was built. We rarely have earthquakes up here, but I fear a good one would be the end of it.
While I shot the barn, these young ladies were my audience. They followed me everywhere. While I was setting up the shot, the white face in the middle came up behind me and snuffled my back. When I turned around, she bolted.

Nice ones...I bet they don't hold dances in that barn!!
Yes, the barn seems to be doing a fine job of holding up those piles of stones :) .
Thanks guys, thanks for looking, we're holding our breath on this one...for decades it seems :)

Good image. I wonder if the rocks were part of the original construction or,as I suspect, added when the wooden posts began to fail.Do you know when it was put up?

iDoc, you may very well be right. I have no idea of the age. This is old farm country and there are a lot of old barns like this with field stone foundations. But, usually they are continuous around the perimeter of the barn. This builder was taking a shortcut with stone pillars and posts.
Thanks for looking.

Love that second shot! I believe a certain "eat more chicken" fast food restaurant would like that one!
I think the cows are worried about the barn. 👌
Thanks guys, the cows were funny. Totally harmless critters, used to people, just have to be careful they don't bump into you. They were very curious about everything I did.
