I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with PhotoScape. I have an opportunity to attend a workshop on it next week. As of now I only use iPhoto. Am still learning how to use my Canon SX50 and Sony NEX6. Any comments or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Photoscape is ok, I would attend the work shop just to learn some things, it's easy to use.

Later on you could get something like Corel Paintshop Pro, much better software.

That Sony NEX-6 is a Awesome camera.

Thanks HOT Texas. Will follow your advice. Have been "playing" with the SX50 lately, but will get back to the NEX-6 soon.

PhotoScape has a friendly learning curve. Quick and easy to make photo adjustments. I particularly like the available photo templets.

Thanks db47 for the comment. The person giving the workshop has an awesome portfolio. She really knows what she's doing. It should be fun and a learning experience.

Photoscape is a pretty good program for most basic editing. One nice feature: many who are confused about cropping to a certain ratio... Photoscape offers a selection list to simply choose from... 3:4, 2:3, 3:5 etc. Then when you apply the crop marks, they are automatically confined to the format you've chosen. You can do batch editing quite easily too. It's worth getting into, in my opinion. Check it out. (I remember when I used to use it, it would do some nice enhancements that even Photoshop was not designed to do).

Just checked on the Corel Paintbrush Pro only to find it is for Windows only. It did get rave reviews. However, I'll need to find something compatible with my Mac. Thanks for suggesting it. And so the search begins.

Thanks for the comment Papa Joe. I think my iPhoto does the ratio crop but I have no idea what "batch editing" is so, I have a lot to learn.

Batch editing is simple the ability to edit (effect in some way) several photos all at once. You 'set' the changes you want to apply to all in a group, then 'turn it loose' and it will take care of the whole 'batch'.

A feature I like and use in Photo Scape is the over photo fonts or graphics as some call them. The font selection is quite good as are the colors and drop shadow. This I use for the title and closing slides in a show. It gives you the opportunity to add credits such as music, produced by, etc.

When you add a title you don't have to explain what your viewer is about to see just let them watch.

It's a good basic editor that I use often... especially for the price!

Hi, i use nothing else but Photoscape, and have done for years, it makes you try harder to get things right in the camera in the first place.

Wow! Sounds like organizing would be key here. I'm looking forward to exploring it. Thanks for the definition.

I'm with you. Sometimes I'm really just after what was going on at that moment. I just hope I don't get carried away with the whole post production deal. Still, being able to "play" is so enticing.

This sounds like a great feature jimmya. I would like to be able to put captions on some of the pictures. iPhoto makes it a challenge.
