Another sunny day in the California foothills. So some bees flew in for the day and an assortment of bugs... nothing special... and, of course, our resident Mantis showed up. Haven't seen her for a while. I picked her up so we could see eye to eye. We had a conversation about the weather. I asked if I could take some shots of her and she said yes. Spent about a half hour with her...then she continued on her way.
I'm having some trouble with focus. I used a tripod on some of these but it was hard to keep up with the movement. I'm more comfortable without the tripod. It could also be that I'm still not 100% after eye surgery. Still taking drops and waiting for new glasses. But, the focus didn't seem good on these. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yea, yea... it was all about, "What will Douglass think?" and she said, ":?: Who's Douglass?" and I said, "He taught me how to do this." and she said " Well don't stress over it. You do just fine... for a girl." And I asked her if she knew you.
Nicely done Riverlass. "Eye" focus is best on the second and third shots.
I love your sense of humour and your Mantis. I don't think focus is that far out and drops in eyes probably do make focusing a little variable so I don't think you should worry until they are back to normal. Also I think focus on Mantis is difficult because they are quite large for macro. In the meantime, I suppose you could switch to autofocus and then get in the right focal range by moving in and out and then half press the shutter button and let autofocus correct if necessary. I like our girly talk.
Really cool shots, Riverlass.

Thanks A-PeeR and Waltchilds. I appreciate the comments.
Brenda... I am having some trouble with the focus and it may be the eye, but I just realized that I have been using the eye that wasn't operated on, so I don't think it's about the "drops". It's just lack of protocol. I'm not using this equipment right. I need to go back to basics, start again and focus on what I've been told to do. I'm too spontaneous... and I forget, too easily, all of the steps that I need to remember.
Must listen to my own advise... Practice, practice, practice. Maybe my interesting, little friend will be out there today and I can practice with her again.
I'm so glad that you always comment on my posts. Thank you... and yes, I like girl talk too. There's little of it on this forum. Ha! We have to stick together.
