Evening shots and night shots are nice. I have a composit NYC that could help. You need to stop down to about -2 on the f-stop. Just try it and see what happens.

I have been to Vegas a couple of times. I turned off my flash, hand held real steady, and set on Auto to get these pictures. I have a Sony A200, and used the kit lens 18-70 on auto focus.

By the way, forgot to tell you welcome to UHH. Lots of good advice here. I have a notebook that I keep next to the computer to write down all the "nuggets" that I am getting. Please post some of your photos when you are comfortable doing so.

Great night shots. I am amazed that you could get the exposure "right on" using automatic. I almost alwas have to adjust manually to get that great color. Welcome to the HOG.

Thanks about the steadyness.....but having a bit of tunnel-vision at times, was using the rough concrete "railing" around the pool to help steady my shots. Can we finish the sentence "If I use my elbow as a pivot point on a rough surface it will _______________. Again welcome to UHH, and thank you for your service.
