I love the composition on all three. It looks like they were taken in broad daylight. That's why they're so contrasty. There's no detail in shadows whatsoever especially in the top image. There are large areas of total blackness. That is NOT appealing to me.
I'm disenchanted with a photo every time I see blown out highlights or totally dark shadows with no detail. The photos would have been a lot better if you had shot them under cloudy sky. clouds act as a giant umbrella that diffuses the light. good luck.

No.2 looks like cloudy bright to me. All are quite good. My eyes don't see detail in shadow at the same time as in highlights and these mirror what I see. I also enjoy probing what my eyes don't see using PP.

Thanks for a peep at fall colors! We'll see a few reds in February here in mid-Florida. Don

It's easy for people to comment about things after the fact. I like all 3 of the photos. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate the way we would like it to. So you have to just capture the moment. I like the way my eyes go right to the water. Cool pictures, good job!!

All are very good in my opinion. I'm not a fan of the "milky water" look and I think these would have looked better had they not had it but that's purely my opinion and nothing to do with the quality of the captures.

Great subject matter and in number one, excellent composition! However, you have to anticipate the conditions and shoot for them so you don't lose either highlights or shadows. You obviously exposed for the highlights. I do the same, but with the uploaded photo, the shadows are not recoverable, at least in LR. This is one of those times that needed some experimenting such as multiple exposures or bracketing. What camera body are you using?

Hitdog, in my opinion all three are eye-catching and attractive. Yes, there are black areas which could be rescued in PP. (Windows Photo Gallery will take care of it fast - just move the shadows slider. If you don't have a photo editor the program often comes preloaded in Windows, or search online.)

Nicely done!

Shooting water is tough. I struggle with it constantly.

If you shoot with faster shutter speeds the falling water looks like ice to me.

Using slow shutter speeds, 1/15th and slower, you get the pleasing "flow" many of us like but you do risk an unreal look that can be distracting.

Your swirl in #3 is nicely done. A longer exposure might have been way over the top.

Again, well done IMO.

   I'll not criticize any of these. Having been there many times, I know the canopy and lighting conditions. (I live a short drive away). It would be nice to have all the "studio" lighting brought in to all the falls to shoot "perfect" photos of them. Or, maybe we could have Mother Nature shine the natural light wherever we wish it to fill so we could get that "perfect" shot. You took these as you saw the location at the moment you pressed the shutter button. Good job in bringing the location to the viewer, despite all the critics. Its a challenging place to take photos of the many falls in that gorge. For those who have the time to stay there day after day waiting for the perfect lighting, give it a try. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I wish these old legs could take me back there again. My movies of them are all I have to see them when I wish. Thanks for showing these. Have a great day. :D

Nice photos..no criticism here. I especially like #1. Nice contrast with the bright trees at the top and the shadows at the bottom. Interesting..

The water certainly draws the eyes.
