Tough to get good focal plane on this one, mainly because of where it was located.

Invited her to lunch. But failed to mention what was on the menu.
Yikes! Great capture!
Excellent capture - well taken.
Yeah, Excellent Photography..
Very nice shot. I thought ladybirds taste awful and most predator won't eat them.
Nicely shot. Just goes to show, a Mantis will eat anything.
Thank you everyone, for your generous comments :)
I think you did well.

There are a number of other insects that will make a meal of a ladybug orionmystery. Another one is the ichneumoneus (Enoclerus ichneumoneus) Beetle. I posted this image back in June. It's the only shot I ever got of this insect. Most spiders will make a meal of them too.

Bill, That is a great photo. You did very well as I have come to expect from you.
I saw a brown mantis alongside the Arkansas river here in CO a few days ago. When I went back to my truck for the camera he was gone. I always thought they were a green color but not this one.
Poor ladybug... but nice shot.
Very Nicely done Bill! I can only imagine how tough it was to get a good focal plane...
