I am looking at the Yongnuo flashes and would like input and recommendations for them. Thank you in advance.

I have two of them and like them a lot. Now looking at a third for high speed sync capability. Can't beat the value...

I have 3 of the YN-460III flashes with the YN-460-TX transmitter. The flashes have built in radio receivers and the transmitter allows me to change the power and zoom of each flash right from the camera 😈.

I'm in 😍

Cheap. Work well and compliant with TTL if you have the correct camera/flash combination. I have one for the last two years, it has not failed me.

Adda a 'wong' dome and you get an outstanding flash unit.

Off camera I use Metz CT45 (2001 unit) and a CT60 (2004 unit).

They are great. Yongnuo makes many models of flashes and triggers and are often coming out with new ones. So make sure that you get all the different model and mark numbers straight before you buy.

Does the 460III work with TTL? (NIkon 610 & D7000)

No. They are all manual that's why I have an additional canon TTL flash unit. TTL is good for event photography when the power level is constantly changing but in those cases where you are lighting a portrait, I would never use TTL even if every flash unit was a profoto B1 😄.

Guess, I'll have to look at the YongNuo YN-568EX

I have several of their products and have found they meet my needs at a good price. For manual only flash, I would recommend the yn-560III with it's internal receiver and use it with the rf-603 series transceivers.

For TTL, I would recommend the yn-568ex flash. It has HSS capability in addition to TTL and only cost a few dollars more than the yn-565ex which is also a good TTL flash, but it does not have HSS.

I would use the yn-622n and yn-622n-tx series radio transceivers with the yn565ex or yn-568ex flash units.

If I was starting over today, I would go straight to the 568 flash units and the 622 trigger/receivers.

Edit: I just checked the price on the yn568ex Nikon version and found it to be under $125 through Amazon. Since this is over $10 less than I paid for my 565ex last year, and since I apparently have little self control, I just ordered another one. I'm going to blame you for awhile if you don't mind.

What camera do you have?

How do you intend to shoot with them? Studio? Location?

What is your budget?

What other lighting gear do you already have?

Nikon D610, D7000
No studio. Location and fill flash
Not enough for a Nikon SB910
SB600 (want to use this as a slave)

Do not use a 603 trigger with the YN-560III flashes. For about $20 more, get the YN-560-TX so you can manually adjust the power and zoom head of each flash from your camera. You can't do that with the 603s.

True :) And, definitely worth the price difference if you want a 'manually adjustable only' flash system.
