Canon 60D humidity problem Err 20?

A friend living in Kerala (Southwest India) for many decades and working on photography projects in the past year switched to digital. I myself often visit but during the dry season. Now is the monsoon season and of course she is in a remote village nowhere near any camera shop and internet connection not reliable. Any suggestions?

"I have a Canon 60D and recently, during shooting the screen popped up with a notice that I have Err 20 - and the camera can't work and to deal with it you should either switch on/off the camera or remove the battery & put it back. And it does work - for a while...but the length for which it works gets increasingly short. I just took a quick look at Google and it appears a humidity problem as they all say as soon as they got 'home' all was well. In that glance I saw no evidence of what happens if 'home' is permanently humid! I now have 3 batteries all doing the same.......doesn't bode well for the season as it already like a sauna here!"

Only time I had that it was the body not the batteries that was damp. I put some rice in the bottom of a sealable container and then set the camera body, without the dust cap and opening up, on top of it and left it overnight. Problem solved! Could do that with batteries and all I assume. Just be careful not to get anything into the camera.

Thanks! I know this worked on my wife's iPhone after champagne split. Will certainly suggest this and that beforehand the rice is partly heated as it could be damp in these conditions.
