This spider is so cute. I was trying to improve my lighting/exposure.

I don't know what the little headlights are for.

And I think you have succeeded. Number 3 is still a little hot.
The headlights are simple eyes.;)

Very awesome set Brenda!! You sure have a lot of bugs around your place.:):) They didn't come to my house this summer. Guess it was to wet.

Thanks Erv, before I joined the macro group a few months ago I hadn't seen a jumping spider but now I realise we have quite a lot of them about and I see one or two almost every day.

Thanks Bill, I was balancing on top of a ladder for the moth - that is my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Image #5 is of green aphids, not greenflies. Wingless females give birth to female clones, which is why you see five mature female aphids, and a brood of immature females.

The Moth (#4) looks fine. The Mantis (#3) is the one that's ever so slightly hot. All great shots none the less

It looks to me like the Aphids are #5. It also appears that if Brenda have observed for a little while, she may have caught one of the little ones popping out of one of the larger ones.

Thank you all for the helpful comments. I will return to the Green Aphids today and watch for longer as Bill suggests. I was surprised to see them in October. Also yesterday I found this Shield bug instar which I thought was a bit late in the Season - perhaps our hot Autumn is affecting things, certainly there are less birds around than normal.

Beautiful Shield. We don't have that one here.
