Teleconverter

Just an odd question related to my teleconverter that I use on my Nikon D800. I have never dropped it or banged it around but when I move it around I hear a noise like a loose item inside. It does not give me any shooting problems just wonder if this noise is of any concern. I don't see anything jiggling around. Just the noise.

It may lead to problems especially if the loose piece becomes wedged and inhibits function. I'd send it to the manufacturer for repair.

It's the mechanical linkage that connects the aperture lever on the camera body to the arm on the lens. With nothing attached it just moves back and forth about 1/2 an inch.

Nothing to worry about.

If you look into the end of the TC that attaches to the lens you will see a small black metal part that has two small silver screws showing. That piece will move back and forth as you move the TC. That is supposed to happen. Don't worry until your TC rattles when a lens and camera are attached.

I have four different teleconverters for Pentax cameras. They all make that sound too. Seems it is normal. Though with Pentax K or M42 mounts you can see moving linkage parts. So Don't worry any.

I have Nikon TC-20E III and noticed same problem when I just received about two years ago. I called Nikon USA immediately. The reply I got is that it is normal. So you may not need to worry about it.

This is a normal sound with converters-there are springs and levers that transmit information, as well as wires for electronic data connections. It's usually in the bayonet locking release lever on the converter. Don't fret about it.

Nonsense- this is normal for converters and has been for more than 50 years.

   Yep, do not send it in for repair. They will just send it back.
