need to work on lighting now,i'm not using this much because i like my other rig so much so i dont know if i will keep it or not.i will decide this winter i guess
Congratulations on that. I suppose the reason to keep it would be when you want to "crop in the camera" to a greater magnification than 2x and you are finding a lot of really small critters. I think your other stuff is so well done so unless you are going for greater magnification or like the versatility, it may be unnecessary. Which Canon are you using it with?
I've thought of renting one, but I'm not sure that I can trigger my IR controlled macro flash units using a Canon. Most of what I'm finding these days is really small stuff: 1-3mm in size.

Ah yeah, that would be interesting. I'm not sure if what I've found are springtails-- but they are about the size of a period on a page. Does that sound like the size of yours?

1 to 2 mm length. here is a photo at 2:1 mag, then cropped.
