We drove out to Assateague Island yesterday afternoon to watch the NASA Antares-Cygnus launch to resupply the space station (about a 2 1/2 hour drive each way). The launch was scrubbed! Why? A boat was downrange. Why Why Why NASA?
The launch is rescheduled for tonight and I intend on going to Chincoteague to watch but, tonight the weather is forecast to be partly cloudy. Last night was crystal clear. Have to see what happens. Keep your fingers crossed for me please.
Here are two shots from last night: a sunset (just imagine the rocket taking off in this); and a moon shot (also imagine the rocket flying past the moon). Both taken with a Canon 7D and a 300mm f4 lens.
Agreed. I wonder how much money that boat cost NASA and all the people that had hotel rooms for the launch.
Maybe walking the plank is an option. Hmmm
Nice colors in that sunset, with a "partly cloudy" forecast they may be even better tonight.
If the launch doesn't happen consider finding the horses. Those horses in sunset light are magnificent. If I were you I'd probably forget all about the launch if I could photograph those guys. I once completely forgot a perigee moon I was chasing on Assateague. But I got incredible shots of those beautiful horses.
