Little Sable Point Lighthouse, Lake Michigan-Road Trip 2014

The lighthouse is all that is left.
This is a very unique light. The middle and bottom part of the lens is stationary.
The top section has 10 panels. The original operation had the top part rotating once very 5 minutes producing additional light every 30 seconds (to ship on the lake, the light was constant with a brighter flash of light every 30 seconds). Hope that makes sense.
From what I've read, there are other lights that had a similar design. I don't have any names that do.
I'll watch out for future lights that may have this unique design.

I really like your perspective in the second one. When I am able to go up our lighthouse, I'm going to steal your idea and try to do the same.

Very Nice Series of Pics! :thumbup: My wife and I enjoy lighthouses and saw many along Lake Michigan, this one is not one we did get to. Appreciate your fine photos.

Ever lighthouse has a deferent light flash sequins so when your at sea and see one you know war you are. Back then they didn't have GPS.

lovely first shot...it must have been quite a climb to the top!
