Yesterday I did a few shots with me Canon40d and my 100mm macro lens. In two of the shots there are jagged white lines near the top of each image. The other 9 images show nothing wrong.. What is my problem? How do I fix it? Thanks in advance I hope the lines show up in this format.

The lines are at the top of both images
The lines are at the top of both images...

Looks like spider silk to me :)

Can you re-post a shot with "store original" checked?

I'll third the spider web theory.
The Sea Shells appear to be a piece of lint to me.
Maybe you just missed it when shooting the photographs?

Are you using your view finder (eyepiece), or your LCD screen?
I ask because I abhor my LCD to shoot with.

First is clearly spider made. I think the second is lint or a loose fiber that just floated in. With my eyes, I sometimes fail to see little threads in real time, but can see them later in the photo.

Swiffer before you shoot?

Thank you people. I just hope that the spots are not dust on my sensor. I never saw anything like that before and I hope never to see it again. I will check the area where I did the pictures. Funny but the spots don't show up on the other 10 images that I did that morning.

Shoot open blue sky at f22 and examine the images. If there is dust on the sensor you will see it.

Dust, or any other "gnurds" on your sensor will appear as dark spots, not light.

Just a thought. Is this a new lens or are you doing something different? Perhaps you are just getting better and previously your would not have had a picture sharp enough to show the spider line or the thread.

Careful in your definition. These aren't spots, they're long strands. There's a big difference between a static essentially round dust spot and what you are showing us. I'll also say spider web on the first one and possibly a remnant of the same silk on the second one. It's almost like you walked through a very thin web with your lens cap off and a single thread of it laid across the front for a while, partially blew off, and then was eventually gone.

The emulsion got scratched. Did you check for dirt on the pressure plate?

It's difficult to hazard a guess without the "store original" box checked so we can examine it closer
