Just purchased new Kensington 16Gig Flash card (highly rated by Consumer advocates) and three (3) readers WILL NOT read card. What are my alternatives other than downloading photos direct from camera into LR5.....or are there any alternates way?????
Makes me wonder why invest in a large gigabyte card?

I run larger cards, its not that. You can test it, by plugging your camera into your computer see if it pulls images from the card.

Another thing to consider is the speed of the card. I have an older card reader that will not read newer cards where my newer card reader does.

Could be a defective card.

Dumb questions.

Did you format the card in the camera before you took pictures?

Can you review the pictures "in camera"?

It is possible that it is a bad card.....

I'm able to read pictures on the card, and I've been able to connect the camera and import the pics to LR5, so I don't think the card is defective. I'm beginning to think that maybe I've got old readers that can't handle the speedier cards. Thanks for you comeback!

Was able to pull pix through camera, so card seems to be OK.
Your observation on old card reader just might be the solution, but what parameters will be required in a newer reader?

Card formatted, could review on camera and send to LR5 from cameras, so card seems to be OK.

Some readers show the speed they can handle.

Looks like I'll be doing some "card reader shopping" before my assignment next week.

I use 16 & 32 Kensington CF cards and my Delkin card reader works fine

Try the reader again. A couple of times Lightroom wouldn't my card, but elements did so it wasn't the card reader.I also buy Lexar cards and sometimes SanDisk.

BINGO!
You didn't say in your OP whether or not your readers could read other cards of the same capacity.
If your card readers are older, a new one may be the right answer.

Thanks for the tip. Will try again. Usually, I'm a Lexar card guy, but saw an attractive deal on the Kensington and it was quite highly rated by one of the rating services, so gave it a try. It appears that the card is thankfully not defective, but some other factors are evidently coming into play. Thanks for the comeback!

It should say what speed cards it is designed for. Don't buy one at the Dollar Store. Go directly to the website of SanDisk or Lexar or Kensington and order a reader from them.
