The day that Albert Einstein most feared has finally arrived..
A day at the beach
Cheering on your team
Having dinner out with your friends
Out on an intimate date
Having a conversation with your BFF
A visit to a museum
Enjoying the sites
Yes it's terrible, they never new how to have FUN! and in picture #1 they are most likely texting each other instead verbal facial interaction. Is this the NO! generation where they grew up everything was no! and most likely results of "No Child Left Behind" schooling!

Sad comment on how kids are brought up today. :(
Yes they are an exception to the rule and I guess normal kids do not make good news. Still we have "No Kids Left Behind" generations and that is not good news.

Once when I was supervising a computer lab for another teacher who had a parent conference to attend I found two of the students exchanging instant messages with each other. They were in adjacent cubicles and didn't even know it. They didn't know each other in person, only on line. When I spotted it and told them they were surprised.
Major big city restaurant wanted to find why their customer ratings were going down. Studied them, complaints about how long it took to get seated, then too long to get waited on and food getting cold before they ate it.
Studied security video, found waiters and waitresses were hustling, cooks, same thing, customers, taking longer to order etc. because they were on electronics and took longer to do everything; on phone before they read menu, on phone before they ordered, taking phone pictures of each other and food after they got the food. Average time at the place was about 30-45 minutes longer than it used to be, due to customer behavior. And they were down rating the establishment for delays they caused themselves.

I'm guilty of this, but I don't hold it against the establishment. I know (usually) when I'm being an idiot.

I like Robert Heinlein's idea from some of his books.
a. All rights, protections etc. of citizenship except voting and public offices/jobs should be automatic to everyone.
b. Voting, holding office, certain types of government jobs (or preferences for hiring) must be earned through service in military or other organizations (sort of like CCC and all of that stuff) set up for that purpose. There would be forms of service for handicapped, pacifists etc. so they could fulfill the service requirement if they so desire.
c. The schools would have classes that covered and explained the process. To include the "responsibilities" of the citizen/voter. In addition penalties for violating the public trust would be severe.
So you could live a life of rights etc. and just not vote or hold office and some jobs. Or you could choose to put in a few years of service and earn the right to vote etc. Entirely your choice. And if you later changed your mind and wanted to vote etc. they would have forms of service that older people could do.

I went out to dinner with 6 friends recently. During our meal, I looked around & two were talking on their phones & the other four were texting. I was so disgusted by their bad manners, I walked out. I hate the way that people are completely addicted to their cell/mobile phones & I must be the only person in my town who doesn't have one.
Yes, I think cells are great for important calls, emergencies, or business calls, but every time I go out, I hear people on phones talking absolute crap. They speak unnecessarily loudly & everybody within 30 feet can hear their personal business. I'd love to shove some of these phones where the sun don't shine, lol.
Welcome to my world. Was visiting grandchildren when our granddaughter said, while riding home on the school bud she saw an article on the side of the road. I asked her, before or after the little market. Before she says. So I drove her and we stopped at the market and she said no, further on. Come to find out she didn't even know the market was there. This is after passing it at least twice on the school bus each day for four years, and each time her Mom took her out.
Rather than have the grandson ride the school bus, I offered to drive him. What time does school start? Answer, I don't know. He's 12 and has been going to the middle school for a month and a half.
Drinking helps!

I hear you Earl. They have become a real pain in the butt. I only use mine for making or taking phone calls. I do have some apps, like GPS, remote controls for cameras but haven't used them yet. My kids send me texts and I don't read them. When they complain to me I tell them that if the message was important enough pick up the damned phone and call me otherwise don't waste my time. Pisses me off that they can waste a lot of time on Facebook and texting but can 't call their Dad. :-D
