Photoshop CC and Nik Effects problem

Good morning all! I recently purchased the Nik Effects suite and have no problems editing my photos in those plug-ins out of Lightroom. However, everytime I try to use one of the plug-ins out of Photoshop, PS crashes. I can bring the photo out of PS and into the plug-in and make my edits just fine, but when I hit save to move the photo back into PS, it crashes and closes. It happens with every one of the Nik plug-ins. I don't experience this with any of my other plug-ins, such as Topaz or DxO. Anyone else experiencing this? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

That happened to me in the past when I installed NIk . I found out the version I was using wasn't the correct version for the windows version I was using , and I had to update Nik to the correct version for the windows version I was using . Hope this helps ,Tommy

Hi Trent, Just curious:

One: I have and use CC with the NIK plug-ins but didn't know they could be used as stand alones, and

Two: I'm not sure why you wouldn't prefer to use them as plug-ins thru PS.

I bought the whole suite but only use Viveza 2 most of the time for my work. It was crashing on me soon after I installed the NIK pack so I contacted NIK and they were very responsive. I detailed exactly what was happening and he got back to me again the next day after talking to programmers. My problem was that if I went out into NIK and back to PS CC it was fine until I tried to save the file and then it would crash.

NIK had a problem and their engineers felt they had found it. He sent me a Beta copy of an updated Viveza 2 and asked me to try it. The problem was solved and never came back again. I wrote back and told him so and thanked him for his quick response.

I also read somewhere that NIK software sometimes gets messed up by certain graphics accelerator cards and that you should turn off your graphic accelerator in PS via preferences/performance.
