I just had the first "big break" of my "career" I would say, and I'm so excited to share that I got the following e-mail from the "Goodall Art Gallery" in Kentucky..
They contacted me in July and we had a brief discussion on my photos and pricing, but then I figured it fell through. Then I got this e-mail today requesting an invoice for 9 photos!!
It's funny, because most of these I would not have selected but I guess they liked them!
Now - I have no idea what to do. I quoted her at $139 a photo a long time ago for 24x36, but now I'm thinking that was a little too low. I can send the invoice with additional charges like shipping, tax, etc.. so I'm sure I can cover that, but I am just so excited they're going up in a new building in downtown Pittsburgh!!
"Stefan,

Congratulations, Stefan. Being your first break, you should probably stick to the price that you originally quoted and indicate that you are doing so. I am not in the business but it is part of a beginning good relationship to to create some basis of trust and good faith.
Don't let your ego and greed blow this first big break ! :XD:

Absolutely. I told her 139, but it could be higher or lower depending on the paper you select. I will keep that price there, and i'm more excited to have them hung in a brand new building being built in a city six hours away!
I agree with TC, stick to the price you quoted and later as
you get better known you can jack up the prices.

Go with your quote. You can make revisions the next time around. Honesty and integrity will get you the repeat business
Congratulations. Are you going to show off the choices?
You ask for tips?
Well photographic tips Im not qualified to give you but having been in business all my life re pricing its simple.
You quoted a figure which means you were willing to do a deal.
A gentleman stands by a deal and remains in business and goes on to further success.
Well done my man!!!!

When you agreed to a price, you made a verbal contract. Stick to it. You will reap future rewards for being a man of your word. Congrats.

Sorry to be the one negative entry, but - how well do you know your buyer? I can send you the same email for Angel Lake Galleries, pick up the pictures at the second forward address and hang your work in my roadhouse in Vya (try to find it). Get some guarantee of payment or, at least, have them snail mail the Purchase Order (NOT email or fax). Silly step? No, mail fraud is one of the most rigidly pursued crimes in this country. The USPS Postal Inspector's Office does not give up!
I have to side with the negative Mogul. Find out as much as you can about the buyer. Check with the BBB too. But if its a go, you are one lucky Stef!
Will your name be associated with the images? If it will, that's good advertising and worth settling for a lower price than you'd like. As others pointed out, the low price need only be temporary.
