Hi Im new to sports shooting, and thought I would set up a custom setting. I have a Canon 7D. I selected C1 mode and went to custom controls and made my selections. I switched to aperture priority mode and then back to C1 mode, and found that all of my setting had reverted back to a default. It seems that the setting will remain as long as I don't select a different mode. Am I understanding it correctly that a custom setting ( C1) can be saved and I can go back to C1 after switching to another mode?

If it works like the SX50, you make the settings you want (not yet in C mode), then go to menu to "save settings" and it will ask you if you want as C1, C2 etc.

It seems that the 7D is programed differently. I started in the aperture priority mode/menu/custom contols/C.Fniii/made a selction/pushed set button. from this point on I dont know how to save to the C1 mode?

Keep looking. That is the best way to learn your camera. As Linda says, you setup all the settings, and I mean all settings, then find the menu selection to save how it's setup into C1 C2 or C3. If I remember, there are 3 of them.

One other question. If I set C1 for sports shoots , can I change my aperture and shutter on the fly?

You can alter the settings from the registered starting point, but the camera will revert to the saved setting when you leave and return to C1.. etc.

Yes, but then next time you turn the dial off of C1 and then back to C1 it will default to the original settings that you "registered" into C1.

Thanks is there anyone that takes sports action shoots? I need to know what Custom settings should I choose to add to my C1 mode? I am new to "action" shooting since I have been taking mostly studio shots.
