What's the highest SD gig# & MB/S write speed a Canon 70D can handle?

Getting cards to carry along with me and want the most capability in the camera.

Thank you!

Was at a concert when I looked online. Either way it's in your manual.

Easier to search the PDF version.

The 70D can handle SDXC UHS-1 cards, like the SanDisk 64GB SDXC Extreme Pro Class 10 UHS-I, read 95MF/s | write 90MB/s or Lexar 256GB SDXC Professional Class 10 600x UHS-I, read 90MF/s | write 45MB/s (though it is about 4x the price of a 128GB card, so I wouldn't recommend this).

Don't worry, it says in the manual, any size card and for speed. I have 3 at 95mb.

Class 10 is the fastest SD HC card currently made. It's excellent for video especially and will record so quickly you'll not even know it's happening.

Virtually current camera models that use SD cards can use a class 10 card.

Get the fastest card you can afford. The camera may not run as fast as the card but it'll run as fast as it can without any limitation from the card.

It might help to do an example. These are the SanDisk 64GB SDXC cards available at B&H today with read/write speeds in MB:
1. SanDisk 64GB SDXC Ultra Class 10 UHS-1, $42, R 30/W 10
2. SanDisk 64GB SDXC Extreme Class 10 UHS-I, $55, R 45/W 45
3. SanDisk SDXC 64GB Extreme Plus Class 10 UHS-I, $75, R 80/W 60
4. SanDisk 64GB SDXC Extreme Pro Class 10 UHS-I, $99, R 95/W 90
5. SanDisk 64GB SDXC Extreme PRO UHS-II, $225, R 280/W 250 (UHS Class 3)

Ultra/Extreme/Extreme Plus/Extreme Pro/Extreme PRO are brand designations, like Ford Focus, Fusion, and Explorer.

SDXC means the card has a capacity larger than 32GB (up to 2TB).

Older cards include Class 6, Class 4, and Class 2.

Part of the confusion is that UHS is used in two ways:
1. The "bus speed" can be UHS-I or UHS-II, or unspecified. These are the I/II next to the SDXC symbol.
2. The "speed class" includes Class 2,4,6,10, UHS-1, and UHS-3. These are the U with a 1 or 3 in it or the C with a 10 in it. Many have both the C10 and U1 symbols.

Which one you should get depends on the camera, your budget, and general use. In general, #2, 3, or 4 would serve most people well.
