Cardinal & Chickadee at Kensington Metropark

Went to Kensington Metropark in Milford MI on Monday to see how much fall color there was - It was a little early - but I had the pleasure of shooting these two birds. Cardinals are meaningful to my Wife Christy who was with me - It was like he posed for me - stayed there long enough for me to get several shots. The Chickadee was only there for one shot - but it was a keeper. Thanks for looking!

Nice. may i suggest that you crop the left and right side of the Chickadee? Just my two cents, but i think it would bring more focus on the Bird and take away some of the 'open' part of the photo.

I appreciate the suggestion - very much. I like the way the tree cut through the shot - but didn't like how that put the bird almost dead center. I will try it - thanks again!

Love them. Particularly the delightful chickadee!

I disagree about cropping the right side of the chickadee shot (maybe a bit off the left), as the light and colors are so appealing. But ultimately it's your pleasure :)

Thank you very much Linda - I appreciate the comment. When all was said and done- I liked the composition of the shots but didn't like putting the birds dead center. But I kept coming back to this so I went with it.

Lovely photos of lovely little birds. As for cropping... it's for reasons just like this that I sometimes wind up with three photos out of one, all cropped differently. ;)

Thank you for the kind words - One of the great things about digital photography - easy to try different versions of the same shot. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.

That cardinal photo is wonderful. Great pose and sharpness. I also like the chickadee with the background colors. May I add my two cents re: cropping. The orange and green are repeated. If you crop on the right retaining the orange and green closer to the tree, you would keep the pretty colors and the focus would be more on the bird, I believe. Would love to see the experiments you made cropping to discern the differences. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much for looking and taking the time to comment - I really appreciate it. I might play with these crops this weekend- if so will post the results. Thanks again- I really like your analysis.
