I couldn't believe this as I watched it unfold. Maybe this looked crazy from my perspective. I believe these fellows stayed on dry rocks, but I wouldn't have gone out on this outcropping. The surf along this section of coast is particularly treacherous.

These are pretty much right out of the camera with some minor auto tweaks and are posted more to document this episode in a series of 6 shots.

Good shots Vicki. (It takes all sorts.) You were obviously in the safest place.

They survived. I had about a 75 foot drop if I'd moved beyond the parking lot railing. Safe? I don't know about that.

Evidently they don't understand that the tide goes in and out, waves get bigger and smaller. Probably city types and don't really comprehend they aren't in Disneyland.
Except for whatever field they make their living they might not pass an IQ or Common Sense test.

It's a guy thing. I did something like this once. Most people don't realize that southernmost point in the United States is on the island of Hawaii, at a point called Ka Lae (appropriately translated as South Point). The wind blows so hard there that tree branches grow sideways (called the venture effect). I wanted to stand on THE very most southern piece of dry land at Ka Lae, and as these photos illustrate quite well, large ocean swells cause huge waves to break on the rocks. Yes, probably not the wisest decision in my life, but in Vicksart's words, I survived.

I have also stood at the westernmost point (by direction of travel) of all US Territories - Point Udall, Guam (13°26′51″N 144°37′5.5″E) .

When we were there, I tried to find the Southern most point. I think we found it. I declared it as such!!
I remember driving right next to a large wind powered generator and there were some boats anchored below the cliff.

To Vicki, Sorry to get off topic......Bob's fault......
