Unusual spider. The thorax looks translucent.

I think this is a Pholcus phalangioides — daddy longlegs spider. I found him on the bottom of the wooden lid to the compost heap.

Nice Brenda!! Great shots and the spider is awesome. I have never seen a long legs look like that though. Even the butt part looks odd to me.

Thanks Erv, I haven't seen this one before although other similar cellar spiders with long legs do live in the compost box. Nice to hear from you.

i love the spider! but i dont like it,there are some spiders i dont like the looks of.this is one of those.great shot though

Thanks Tom, I thought you liked all critters but, I agree, this is not as cute as your jumpers but if it clears flies from the kitchen compost I am happy to have it as one of our guests.
