Hello;
I am a second year college photographic student very new to digital photography. My background is in natural light film photography. I just started a portrait class and had a major problem a few nights ago when I did my first studio shoot. First of all my camera would not since. with the transmitter and the flash in the soft box that I was using would not go off. (It did when the test button was pressed on the transmitter.) After that there was problems shooting in the view mode, (the set would not show on the screen.) And finally when we were able to get off a few exposes, the information kept popping up on the screen when we tried to quick view the image. The only thing I found out later was that my flash card was filled (I had not reformatted.) Could that have caused all (or some,) of the problems I had?
Can anyone give me a "quick school" on how to set my model camera up for using studio lights, and what I should be checking on the menu? Thanks...

There can be many variables when setting up studio lights and all the things we may be using. What kind of set up, triggers, hardwired or wireless, many switches, and other factors. I used to pack and test for many outdoor sports shoots for youth sports, and believe me it can be one small switch or batteries; many many different issues. We always tested everything ahead of packing for shoots, then packed an extra light head, pocket wizard, and any other thing that may malfunction! So we need more informtion to help you troubleshoot your problems. Also, I was taught to always set up 1 hour early so the light can be tested, metered, tested again! But I also have learned to be prepared for anything, because I get very frustrated when the shoot isn't going well. Give us more information. Thanks.
