Just a few shots of the wide angle to zoom capability for those interested in the SX50. My wife and I were at our local pond, and she saw something at the edge of the woods in the 8 power binos. I took shots and zoomed in al the way to 75X using the 1.5X teleconverter, and this is what we found.

The only problem is that the capability is due to a digital zoom that kills everything when used. Look at the close-up 1:1...

Other than that, I have an eye to spot the critter. That is much more important than the camera.

Delvon made a demonstration only for those interested in the SX50, you obviously are not interested, so why do you feel the need to criticize?

A critic or an observation about the camera limitation? If one is truly interested in a camera one has to know what the limitations are. Digital zoom and exaggerated claims of pixel size are among the worst manufacturer sins.

Saying great to everything is lame to say the least.

Also, if you did not notice, I did not touch the photographer or the shots themselves. I probably would not have noticed the critter, he did.

Interplation creates this. Acceptable? I think not.

I made a big mistake here...

I should have seen it in the first place, my apologies.

An sx50 is a good one. I did some test shots like that of my car from about 200 ft.
At wide angle, 24mm, the car is a dot in the picture.
At 1200mm equivalent, the rear of the car fills the frame.
And with full digital zoom, 4800mm the license plate fills the frame. No wonder what the military and intelligence people do from satellites, when you see that.

Finally thanks! It was only to show what it could do. Also didn't explain the fact that I was about 300 yds away, got out of the car, and ran off 3 quick shots, on P mode, hand held, in about 20 seconds. As I've gotten older I don't carry all my heavy SLR equipment anymore out into the field. They are saved for the backyard. Images are absolutely fine for my purposes. Anyone interested in the camera, you heard it here. DL
