The spell check I've used since the early 2000's will not work on firefox but with internet explorer it works great.
I would even pay for one if it works on firefox and google and google chrome.
thanks a lot.

The best spell check is to proof read. If you proof read, you would have caught the error in the title of this posting. Spell check is not an excuse to not proof read!

A short time ago I read an article on why it is difficult for a writer to proof read his own work. He/she knows what has been written and what it means and that's why is is so much easier for another person to pick up mistakes.
That said, here's something that
might help:

Old retired English teacher here, but now I have hardening of the arteries in my brain and struggle to proof read.
Thanks to all who read and replied.

Two more tips from a retired writing teacher with 40 years of experience:
1. Read your sentences backwards. That way you don't get caught up in the thoughts of what you're saying as you search for errors.
2. For longer passages read from the bottom up. Doing so forces you to look at the work line for line rather than going with the thought flow.
When we read our work as written (forwards), we all too often see what we think is there rather than what is really written.
Another thought: Don't ever trust a spellchecker. Most of them will not distinguish between choices such as than/then, sit/set, to/too/two, etc. They catch the obvious typos, but that's about it.

You could try the free version of Tiny Spell. I've used it for years with windows and chrome. Never used Foxfire.
Another solution is to write in Word and then cut and paste your text in to Firefox.
