The Elk Rut Has Moved Into The Neighbourhood. Estes Park CO.
Drove up to Rocky Mountain National Park yesterday to see if we could find any Elk, as this is the mating season or the "Rut" for the Elk. We only saw one Elk up in the mountains.
Dissapointed we headed back into Estes Park park for lunch. As soon as we got out of the vehicle we herd the Elk bugleing off in the distance but could not see them. So we drove around the neighbourhood and found them right in town of all places. What a sight.

Taken through my car window. A local resident had just driven by honking his horn to make the Elk move. This Bull kept looking at me as if to say "did you honk that horn".

They are so majestic.

Thanks Linda. I love going up to the mountains in the fall just to see these wonderful animals.
Great shots; it would scare me to see elk roaming around my house.
Beautiful! Wish I was there. :)
