Rokinon 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Sony

B&H lists two versions of this lens, one for Sony A and one for E. If you have an A to E adapter for an A7R, would there be any difference in the two lenses? The A version seems to be $100 less than the E version. Both are listed as for both full frame and cropped.
Is the A version a 'real' full frame and the E version not?
Thanks,
Ron

I'll make a rash assumption based on previous experience with adapters. Sony A mount bodies/lenses have a longer aperture to focal plane distance (not sure if that's the correct term) compared to E mount bodies/lenses. Both lenses are truly full frame designs. The difference is the size of the mount & depth of the body.

It boils down to a matter of convenience. The E lens will mount straight on to the body. No fuss no muss. If you have an A body as well and want to use the lens on both cameras then you have to buy the A lens so that both bodies can be used. So one lens is less complicated and probably more reliable and the other allows some flexibility but is more complicated and maybe not as reliable. It's your choice. But make it based on that rather than the $100. It's a small amount if you're constantly plagued with bother.
