Adobe Impression installation

This program can be used as a stand alone and a plugin.

In the process of the instillation on a Toshiba Satellite A665-S6054 laptop a friend ran into a stop install notice stating that the program needed Open GL 3.0+ and the laptop has open GL 2.0+.

The laptop has an i5 processor with Intel chips as far as I can tell by Model #.

What does this mean and how to change to the newer 3.0+
in order to install the Adobe program.

Any one that has experienced this or knows how to correct the problem please advise.

Thanks for any help.

If the driver update does not work use google 'update gl 2.0 to 3.0 you have pages to search from there. One is bound to apply.

The shortest way is to know what card you have, contact the video card manufacturer tech support.

Toshiba may also help having worked for this company I do not think you will get a timely answer. Then again it was in 1997 ~ 1999 and I was Italy.

I also have tried to download the trail version. I keep getting the same notice that you stated. I finally called the Geek Squad that I have a contract with. The agent worked for over 3 hours trying to upgrade my hard drive. We never did get it fixed so that I can try this new plug-in. I felt so bad for him that I finally said to hell with it. My computer is not that old and I am running Windows 7. Still pulling my hair out over this.

It appears to be tied into the graphics chip but I can not locate newer drivers that work with the Intel chip set that indicate the newer OpenGL version.

I have dropped it in the hogs site because this forum has a lot of IT people registered in hope of their help.

I have googled the ? and found no intelligent answers that will soak into my limited core prosessor brain.

I have don't the same thing. It wants to open something in Windows Vista that I do not have. I don't know that much about all this stuff either. I just don't understand if it is a plugin for Photoshop or Elements or Lightroom why it is showing Graffic support. None of my other plugins do I have trouble with.

I also had a problem with it--was in constant email touch with topaz seems my graphics card doesn't work with it--I feel like I threw away $75.00, when I downloaded it it said my graphics card was fine first time I ever had trouble with a Topaz plug-in, all of my previous ones worked in CS5, elements and lightroom

I am assuming that the program is Topaz Impressions instead of Adobe Impressions. I downloaded the trial of Topaz Impressions but when I opened an image in it the screen and the presets turned red. Nothing worked. FAQ on the Topaz site says that if that happens your graphics driver should be updated. I run an AMD Radeon HD7570 which has worked perfectly with all of the Topaz plug-ins, and everything else on my system for that matter. When I go to Device Manager and select the card's properties there is an option to search for updates. After doing the search it says the card is up-to-date. Going to AMD's site it says there is an update so I downloaded it and followed the install instructions. When the installation got to selecting the language I selected English but there was no option to continue. It just hung there. I had to do a system restore to get back my old drivers. So much for Topaz Impressions! Not worth the hassle to make it work.

Jim I so agree with you if it don't work then I really did not need it. But it amazes me that some of my friends could get it to work CRAZY.

I strongly advise anyone interested in this new plugin to download the trial version first before spending your money for software that may not work.

My mistake I got it wrong even after all the previewing it is Topaz Impressions.

It is the version of OpenGL in the graphics card that is causing the problem. Anything over 3.2 Version is supposed to work OK.

Topaz has added a disclaimer on their web page as to the OpenGL version to use.
