Change the imbedded time and date on a photo.

Hello, due to user error I have hundreds of photos that have the wrong dates and time of day embedded on them. That results in having photos out of sequence from my travels. Does anyone know how to change the date or time OR how to get them in the right sequence and save them that way permanently? Thanks.

Google and download the utility "Exif Pilot". It will ask you which file to open, lets you change dates then save them to the photograph. I don't know if it has a batch file processor, but at least you can change them.

You can buy their plug-in for batch editing for an additional $79.95

Thanks for asking (and answering). I have the same problem, but hadn't gotten around to asking on UHH.

On UHH, I previously saw PhotoME

http://www.photome.de/home.html

was mentioned. I have loaded, and it looks like it will work, but I haven't gotten around to fixing all of my pictures. I will check out "EXIF Pilot" and see which works better. I would like a batch processor, but it's not worth $80 to me.

It seems that, no matter how many notes and reminders I set for myself, I have about a 50/50 chance of setting the date and time correctly when I travel, and don't notice it until I review my photo after the first day. Once, I managed to set the date and time correctly, but got the year wrong. :-(

Fantastic news that there is software to help me out of my dilemma. This next trip, I hope, I'll be smarter than usual and have the correct time/date on my camera. Thanks to all of you!

Sort by file number?

I have my camera set up so it numbers all photos consecutively, no matter when and where taken, no matter if the camera has been turned off, then on, or a month has passed, or a day, or a year.
If the last image taken was 8269.CR2, the next one will be 8270.CR2
To be quite frank, I do not even know why they give other options of doing it.

If the automatic upload to your hard drive has caused the folder that they are in, to be incorrect, if you change that folder name to the correct date, they will then be in the correct order.

Thanks for your suggestion, but I often use more than one camera (an U/W camera and a land camera and/or my wife's camera) on the same trip, and I want the pictures from the different cameras to show up in more or less the right order on the timeline. My photo organization software will take care of that for me, but only if the clocks in the cameras are set to more or less the same time. I have tried just leaving them on the home time zone (or GMT), but that causes other confusion for me.

... or maybe I'm just anal :-D
