This is a serious question, so no snarky replies, please. I am wanting to sell my Canon 50D. Includes spare battery, charger, extra CD card, remote shutter release, 18-55 lens, and LowPro bag. I have looked on eBay (I do not like eBay.........personal reasons) and the prices are all over the place. I do not want to give it away, as most people expect me to. What is a reasonable asking price? It is in excellent condition, and I have not taken all that many pictures with it.

Will be anxious to see what the Hogs say as I have one also and have considered selling but don't know what it's worth.

Why not check on ebay for the same package. I'm sure there are plenty posted. Shutter count is another bearing on price. EOSmsg is free and will give you that information.

Many people check online stores such as KEH, Adorama or BH and then also check ebay to get a reasonable estimate of what items are worth.

When trying to use this link I get a popup from Norton that says "malicious web site blocked"?

Norton is giving you a false positive. I've scanned this with Eset NOD 32 v7 and Malwarebytes Anti-malware. I regularly scan and have no problems. Maybe Norton is upset it can't read Chinese :)

It's likely Norton complaining about an .exe download. It probably wouldn't have complained if it was packaged in a container.

I looked on Amazon.com and their pre-owned "packages" run from $600 to over $1400. Now HOW am I supposed to pick an intelligent price and not have somebody say "you are way overpriced". Like I said, they want me to wrap it, put a pretty bow on and say "here, a gift for you". Gah!

And why do you wish to sell a good working Canon camera? Oh if $600 to $1400 seems confusing than pick the middle price for it seems fair?

I have too many.....need to downsize. And I want to get an iPad Air..............LOL I have a 60D and a D20. That's all I really need. I had it priced at $700.00 for the package and I was told by someone that replied to my Craig's List add that I was WAY out of the ballpark. Sheesh......

It's true. Most people want something for nothing. How do you pick an "intelligent" price? How would you pick an intelligent price for your home? Look at other comps in your neighborhood, right? Checkout what others are selling theirs for (not what they are asking, but what they are selling them for).

If you want to get top dollar, you're gonna have to do some work. Sadly, with your offering as posted, I don't see how you can get more than 6 or 7 hundred bucks. If you want to sell it for more, you're gonna need to tell us why it's more valuable than others for sale at this price---i.e. shutter speed count, only ever used indoors, had it inspected and tested, battery was kept charged, etc.

Craig's list is NOT a good place to get top dollar... People truly are only looking to get something for nothing.

Hi AnnaZ, a quick search of the camera on Ebay says....

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=Canon+50D+Camera+and+18-55+Lens&_from=R40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR5.TRC1.A0.H0.XCanon+50D+Camera+&_nkw=Canon+50D+Camera+&_sacat=0

A quick seach on Ebay for your lens says.....

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=Canon+50D+Camera&_from=R40%7CR40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.XCanon+18-55&_nkw=Canon+18-55&_sacat=0

I took the averages of the 2 and came up with a neighborhood price of $350-$375 depending on condition and clicks.

I have this one as well and have held onto it for use by my teenage daughter or loan to family and guests. Also, the ability of color capture with the sensor on this camera to this day still blows the 7D right off the map.

Craigslist is another way to go, but results can very depending on your location. I have had very good results here in San Francisco using it, but there are always the ones that test the water to see how hungry you are but offering a low ball price.

Good luck,

Chris

Well the answer is don't sell Craigs list. Setup a account with ebay; the people who buy off CL are tightwads
You know el cheapo. Much better to sell ebay!

Another thing to do is check out Amazon.com I have sold my last 3 cameras there. They list used cameras, and you can judge by the packages being offered, what a reasonable price might be. I also buy my cameras there, in "Used Like New" condition - in which category, it sounds like your camera should be listed.
