Here's a little sampler from my trip down to meet Wayne Keene of UHH.
From the Valley of the Gods, Utah'
I will print a series of images from the trip with a bit of travelogue as I look at and develop the images.
WOW!! I can hardly wait for the travelogue.
These are magnificent!
I see you used a manual 30sec exposure. Did you use some metering method or best guess?

I used a sort of standard starting place of ISO 1600 and a 20 sec exposure, D810, 24-120 f4 lens. I didn't have enough time to fully light the monument so I upped it to 30 sec. I was using a powerful Stinger flashlight (rechargeable). The monument was about 250 yards away. Thanks for looking and the kind comment.
I was beat and tried going to sleep, but as I was lying in my tent with just nylon screen and the tent screen doors open looking at the magnificent dark sky and stars, I realized I was blowing a prime opportunity to try some light painting.
It was a gorgeous night.
