Signaling Post-Snowden Era, iPhone 6 Blocks N.S.A.

Intelligence agencies say the move, in which the new iPhone creates a unique code that scrambles information, is the first of new technologies designed to defeat court orders to turn over information.

I'm sure the NSA would be very bored with my conversations on my phone! Do you have the iPhone 6, James? I have my eye on the 6 Plus but must wait a couple months until Prepaid gets it.

I don't own a cell. I am still a land-liner. But wife and daughters have cells stuck to their fingers on a regular basis, so much so, that I never get their attention any more, but they are not iPhone 6's. My wife just told me that our daughter has an iPhone 5, but is planning, like you, to trade up to a iPhone 6-plus when it becomes available.

I am afraid that if I got one of the latest iPhone, that I might just drop it while in the bathroom and jar-it to the on position, just enough, that it would begin taking pictures, automatically, and post them all over the world, automatically, without me even knowing it. That is how much I know about iPhones. LOL.

My conversations, too, the NSA would find most boring.

Think of what you're missing James! I have a lot of songs on them and love playing them. I live in a dead zone so rarely use it except for the few times a year I'm someplace and need to ask a question of a friend or relative. :D

You are right. My view and aversion to iPhones is wrong and will wane, eventually. I keep thinking I am just putting off the inevitable.

I don't think I need a smart phone. I have a cell phone that is a few years old, a Motorola Razor, a flip phone. My grand daughter calls it a stupid phone. That's fine with me. I can make phone calls with it and take some pictures. It does everything I want it to.

I've been reading a lot about that. Are they appealing to the terrorist market? :D

There's always a way around security.

Really good point you make. If the good guys can get them then so can the bad guys.

A detective once told me that it is foolish think that one can make his/her home burglar proof, and therefore it would be wise to consider that anything you do in an attempt to make it so would better be considered a deterrent, only.

This is such BS. They announce the imminent release of a new feature called Apple Pay, which is to store your credit card info, generate one time proxy #'s for transactions, and NOT keep a record of where you shop or what you buy. How can they implement this without the type of Security everyone is Pi--ing and moaning about? The two go hand in hand. If there is a justified Security Issue a Court Order can be obtained ordering a person to open their phone with their fingerprint, allowing access to phone information. This is the same process required to obtain a DNA sample or other evidence from a suspect-THRU THE COURT. Enough said?

Yeah. No way the NSA will ever be able to crack their encryption.
Dream on.
