I have a Sony DSC-RX100, no viewfinder, that I like to carry for the impulse shot. The 3" screen is terrible out of doors when it is bright and sunny. Does anyone have a good experience with a particular glare eliminator that can be used with this camera. Many thanks for any assistance.

Most people make that mistake. You actually measure from upper right to lower left. :D

Unless you are in the Southern hemisphere; its
from the lower left to the upper right down here 8-)

Try Clearviewer.com . It works on my Panasonic. I've tried the other shades and they don't work.

Looked at clearview. it will not work with the DSC-RX100 since there is no hot shoe on the top. thanks for the suggestion.

I had a quick (very quick) look at that one as well, but got the impression that it is fastened to the tripod screw on the bottom of the camera...

I usually wear a wide brimmed hat when shooting outdoors. To deal with this problem on an impromptu basis where I have glare on my Canon Elph's LCD I tuck it up in front of my face, near my eyes, but under the brim. My eyes can't focus on the image, but I can compose the shot and see when the autofocus box turns green. Not ideal, but it has worked quite well many times. The brim also helps when using the viewfinder on my Nikon DSLRs.

With my old 4x5 Linhof view camera, I had a cloth to go over my head and let me see the glass. Sounds like something like that would work. LOL

Wow. I do miss my old 4x5s. Loading film holders, setting up the tripod and camera, careful composition, slow with time to think and consider (At $2-3 a shot, you tried to get it right.), the smell of the shortstop and hypo. . . Ah nostalgia.

Mine does not connect to the hot shoe. It connects to the tripod mount.

I see that you clicked on the wrong link. The tripod mount link is higher up on the page.

Mine connects to the tripod mount on my Panasonic.

It works surprisingly well.

My earlier look at this was insufficient. A second look showed me the use of the tripod screw. I have ordered the Nushield product and will try that. If it is not what I expect, then I will re-consider the Clear View product. This is a long range problem and may take a couple of efforts (short of buying another camera - I already have four) but I am certain it can be solved.
Thanks again to all who have written.

NuShield installed. Went out in the sun yesterday and could see the screen as well as I can in-doors. I may put a piece of NuShield on my cell phone. Thanks for the comments.
